We have cats like these

The lovely
Syd
Syd
It's not every day
that the AHT gets a pure pedigree cat - and the lovely
Syd was an exceptional character as well
as being very beautiful.
Happily we managed
to find him a marvellous home in a real
Mrs Marples type cottage in a village in Northamptonshire,
where he now rules the roost - bossing
around the resident dog and two giant rabbits.
Maud originally came to the AHT as a kitten and was then
returned to us as a 7-year-old when her owner had
to leave the country.
She was a reserved cat who stayed
quite a long time in our cattery while more assertive
cats were chosen. So we were very happy when a nice
couple from Ruislip offered to give her
a home as an "indoor cat". They have recently
sent us some really lovely photos showing her settling
down in her new home and coming out her shell.
Storm (above)
and Jake (aka Ollie)
Storm and Jake
- otherwise known as the Mitchell brothers (fans of
EastEnders can guess at their characters) took a long
time to find a home, staying 11 months in our long-term
cattery. We wanted to try and keep them together -
and finally found what looks like an ideal home for
them in Loughton (an area of London favoured by many
an old EastEnder).
Here are Jake and Storm awaiting their move. As
you can see, they have made themselves pretty comfortable
in our cattery.
All the human helpers there will miss them sorely,
but other cats might not be so sorry to see them go
:-)
Grateful thanks to Cat
Chat for
posting their details on their website and helping
find them that home.
Jasmine
Princess
Brothers Branston (above) & Pickles
Percy (formerly
Pirate) and Paris
We were determined
to home these two brothers together if possible. This
was a challenge - and they stayed too long in our short-term
cattery. Finally, after also being adverted
on Cat
Chat, they found a nice
home in Walthamstow.
Rogue
Rogue found herself homeless
when an unsympathetic landlord told her previous
owner she was not allowed another pet. Reluctantly
she gave her to us for rehoming. A really beautiful
young cat, with a playful and loving disposition,
she didn't have long to wait before going to
a family in Buckingham.
"The kids adore
her" - wrote the mother in a nice thank-you
letter to us. They have also renamed her Pluto.
Hoover
Hoover impressed us with his
appetite when he arrived at AHT - given to us when
his previous owner's child developed an allergy.
A calm and very pleasant cat, he was found an ideal
home in Chingford. The house has not just one but
three cat-flaps out into the lovely back-garden.
Our only slight concern was that Hoover must share
his new home with several pet birds - and cats
and birds aren't always the best mix. As of last
reports, both furry and feathered friends were
still happily co-existing.
Fiddler
Fiddler was one of a litter
of kittens born to a feral mother who we trapped
in Tottenham.
This attractive kitten and
his brother were snapped up almost immediately
by a family from Crouch End.
Marvin
Marvin was rescued - along
with his siblings - as a timid kitten by the AHT.
This was a sad case of neglect: his mother had
been left to fend for herself on the streets when
her owner moved house. None of the kittens were
in good health when we rescued them, all with infections
- which resulted in the deaths of two of his siblings.
Marvin himself lost the use of one eye - and as
a result proved difficult to home. He was also
timid and a bit depressive. However, after over
a year at the AHT he was finally offered a home
by a friend of our veterinary nurse.
Simba
Simba was an exceptionally
handsome cat, given to us when his foreign owner
had to return to his native land, and a new wife
who didn't want pets. Well, we would all have chosen
Simba instead :-)
This gorgeous cat was quite
aloof and not too sociable. A retired lady from
Enfield has given him a good new home.
Danny
Danny was a nice cat who stayed
with the AHT a lot longer than he should have done
simply because of his age.
People want kittens or young
cats, and Danny was already 11 when he came our
way - though in fine health.
In the end we made him the
subject of quite a campaign - since his is such
a sadly typical case. This very photo of him was
turned into a poster, shown locally, and as a result
he at last found the loving home he waited for
so long.
