Tortie
Unimaginatively-named
Tortie was a real character! An explosion of
energy and playfulness. Given to us once again
as a result of owner-allergy (a problem which
seems sadly to be more and more common), we were
sorry to lose her as she kept us entertained
for hours. Our committee meetings can drag on
sometimes - but there was never a dull moment
after Tortie sprang into the room. |

Moonboots
& Baffie
Delilah (aka Moonboots) & Baffie
were two of four beautiful long-haired cats who came
to the AHT from the Alexandra Park area after their
owner died in tragic circumstances.
These poor cats were
traumatised by their loss and the move from their
home, and it was days before they started eating
properly. Happily they all found new homes quickly
- being such gorgeous and affectionate animals. |
Charlie
Charlie
was an FIV cat
(cat version of HIV) - and in need of a special
owner or family who could give him a loving
home.
Fortunately there are
still some special people in the world: a wonderful
woman who works with refugees in the Kings Cross
area took on this feline refugee as well. Not
only that - but she also pledged a monthly donation
to the AHT. It's lovely to know that Charlie
can start life afresh now - and surely he will
show his new owner how grateful he is for her
kindness.

Tortie
Tortie was approximately
5 years old when she was given to AHT for rehoming.
She had a very independent nature and was very much
a chatterbox - so not ideally suited to other cats
or a home with small children.
An East London
couple were able to offer her a new home - with
the big garden she so desperately wanted! |
Carmen
Carmen was approximately 10
months old and rescued as a timid kitten by the
AHT. Although she started out as a handful, with
a lot of help she became one of our most affectionate
and playful cats. She could always be quite nervous
so again was not looking for a home with small
children.
Liz from Walthamstow took on
Carmen with no regrets: she has settled very well
with her 2 other cats. |

Coco
Coco was 7 years when he was
given to AHT - feeling very neglected due to his
owners relocating abroad. He was a very calm and
gentle character - very much a family pet.
The Daltons, from Enfield, fell
for his charms and he is now a much-loved addition
to their family of 5 children, 2 dogs, 3 rabbits
and various other animals. |
Georgie
Georgie was approximately 6
weeks old when he was first rescued as a timid
kitten by the AHT. He was then homed, but unfortunately
- through no fault of his own - returned recently
to the cattery at the age of 18 months.
Quiet, but playful, he was offered
a home by Sue from Enfield. She reports that, while
very shy at first, after several weeks he is now
finding his paws in his new house. |

Dolly
Dolly was one of our old dears
(approximately 11 years old). She and Tango (below)
were abandoned last year and were with the AHT
a record time. Poor Dolly had a damaged eye although
she was otherwise very healthy. She was a truly
affectionate character, just desperate for some
love back.
Fortunately her story had a
happy ending (see below). |
 |
Tango
Tango was approximately 4
years old and was brought to the AHT with Dolly.
Tango had a more independent nature but she and Dolly
were such fast friends that we decided to try and
home them together.
This took some time, but finally
Ivy, a retired lady from Palmers Green, took pity
on our 2 stalwarts and now they are her dearest
treasures. |
Star
Star didn't stay so long at
AHT. Initially abandoned after she had served her
purpose of producing a litter of kittens, she arrived
with us as a youngster. Called "Star" by
her rescuer, simply because she was one - she was
a lovely, loving animal who got on with cats, dogs,
children and anyone who gave her some attention.
Quickly snapped up by local
lass Elaine, she has fallen on her paws this time
round! |

Puss
Poor Puss, our home-page pin-up,
was with us several months. She was not a youngster
(approx. 8 years old) and was never very happy
around all the other cats. She was left behind
when her owners moved away, and arrived at AHT
in a very sorry state with her hair falling out
due to a flea allergy.
She made a full recovery and
finally caught the eye of Mr Stephens from Chingford,
another senior citizen. He reports that, although
she is still very shy, Puss likes a bit of fuss
now and then. We are sure she is now very much
enjoying a quiet life away from noise and other
cats. |

Tash
Tash was trapped as a timid
when he was approximately 6 weeks old. He started
out quite a feisty little character but over the
next few weeks at AHT, tamed to be an affectionate
little guy.
Dave, from Tottenham,
took to Tash straight away and offered him
a home.
As you can see, he has
very distinctive markings and a cheeky
face. He was a bit mischievous and will
no doubt give his new owner hours of amusement. |

Sunshine
Most people have a cat
who becomes the special cat of their lives. It
may be their first, it may be the one who's with
them the longest, it may be the animal who is a
comfort in times of trouble, or simply a cat who
brings joy through the force of his or her personality.
Sunshine was such a cat.
Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of looks,
he nevertheless became the dearest possession of
a lady who was always a great friend of the AHT. |
